#SFFSAT Snippet: Refugees On Urloon #2

Here is another snippet from my April 9th release, Refugees On Urloon. This takes place some time after the snippet from last week.

He was still Liam. He wore a sleeveless tunic of chandolay cloth in dark blues and greens and leggings that stopped at the knees. Below the knee were his new fins, quite broad. The gills on his neck stayed flat against his skin. He did not look too different. She saw that his skin was a different texture, almost like golden brown alabaster, but his hair looked the same, black and liberally streaked with gray, and a little too long for a starship captain. He wore the back pulled into a tail. She wondered if hair changed texture, too, like skin did. Her heart stuck in her throat, making it hard to breathe.
