Cuz I know you are all worried about my dog! Lol.
Baxter is home but is confined to a kennel for 4 weeks! The break was worse than originally thought and he has a plate and a pin(the pin will have to be removed in 6 weeks). He has pain pills and antibiotics and must be carried down the stairs. So sad, he is such a busy little boy. But he seems content to rest. His kennel is on the couch right next to me, which is where he usually rests when I am home. He has been snoozing and I think he probably needs the rest! His poor leg(about the size of a chicken hindquarter), is all bruised and has a long incision. Poor baby.
Oh, poor Baxter. And poor you. But at least Baxter is a little dog. Years ago one of my German Shepherd Dogs had an operation to correct hip dysplasia. Her hip was pinned and she had to be confined. I kept her inside, in a child's playpen. I had to carry her out to do her business - sometimes in the middle of the night. Coping with her boredom was the worst part. I had to make up little games such as give her a box with dog chocs inside for her to figure out. Ah, good times.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried carrying him by myself since I'm so unsteady on stairs(knees). But he won't go potty unless I am out there. Wants his mommy, lol. Am pleased he seems to like the kennel. Though he nearly outsmarted me with the pills! Took five tries and a piece of cheese!
ReplyDeleteAw, so sorry to hear about Baxter. I have a little one about his size, too (mini long-haired Dachshund) so I know this has to be heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteHope Baxter recovers fast and is as good as new in no time.
