This blog is so much easier than my other one. I will have to eventually fix links in books etc, but at this point I am going for simple and familiar.
My husband passed away last week. He was disabled for years, and in the past year had several health issues crop up. Then we thought he broke his arm trying to stand up, using a safety bar. Turns out a tumor had thinned his arm bone, and it started to shatter. In our small town there is no surgeon who could repair the bone, risking an even worse break, so they life-flighted him to Colorado. December 3rd we learned he had stage four cancer, metastasized throughout his bones and quite near his brain. We hoped to buy him some time, but it was too late. He died on January 15 in hospice.
Hospice was just the best place to be. His last meal was a bite of grilled cheese, an ice cream sandwich and beer.
My daughters have all gone home now, they need to get back to work. He was a larger-than-life kind of guy, so life will be quiet without him. I will get back to writing since it is familiar, not part of the huge change.
People have been so very kind!
