My Scifi Romance in Pets in Space 6 is the first in a new series. I wanted the story to be accessible, especially for those who might not read a great deal of Scifi Romance. My Earth women (and one teen) are bewildered, frightened, and rarely know what's going on! They are trying to keep each other safe in strange new world.The reader learns about this world as the characters do.

Mimi and Kyre, my romantic couple, click right away, almost a case of love at first sight (or definitely attraction!). Honestly, with all the chaos and trouble happening around her, Mimi does not need a high conflict, difficult relationship. Handsome, kind, competent Kyre is the man to meet!

Even though she ends up saving him as much as he saves her and her friends!

Excerpt from Mimi's and Kyre's First Meet:

“I’m Acacia, this is Hannah, Mimi and Chloe. This planet is called Fera?” Acacia spoke while everyone served food.

“How did you get here from Earth?” Kyre asked.

 “Aliens kidnapped us. How do you know about Earth?” Mimi replied.

“Not many do. It is not part of the Trade Alliance.” He took a sip of his drink. “My family has an Earth ancestor. He taught us English and Deutsch, which we use within the family. No others know it, so we have privacy.”

“Earth sent people to space years ago?” Acacia asked, eyes wide.

Kyre grinned. “Not really. Our ancestor sent himself to space in a homemade rocket with homemade fuel. He was a man ahead of his time. I can tell you the whole story sometime, but right now I want to know how you got to Fera.”

“Well, they were wormy things, with lots of tiny hairy feet. Or hands. Greenish and really stinky. They leaked brown stuff,” Mimi said,

“I’m sure it was kaka,” Chloe said.

“We all happened to be on the same street one evening, back on Earth. A worm hit us with a pink ray, and we woke in a cage on their ship.”

“Shikshiks,” Tris said. “Whooee. The stench.”

“We cleaned a lot to get rid of the smell and stains,” Hannah said quietly.

“Shikshiks have a reputation for theft and other illegal activities,” Kyre said. “Piracy.”

“So slavery isn’t illegal here? The worms had us tied around the neck with ropes when they took us to get the ear and eye shots,” Mimi said.

Kyre was silent for a moment. “You were on Grzbt? The large space dock?”

“I guess so? It was a dock with lots of ships. We took a tube transportation to get here.”

“Grzbt is a commercial space station. It is a lawless place, though Fera wants to regulate it. Slavery is illegal on Fera. It has a system of law and the military to back it up. We have our ship within Fera’s legal space. Grzbt is right outside the boundary.”

“Sounds like you got translator and reader chips,” Tris said.

“They don’t work,” Acacia said. “We don’t understand anything.”

“I could check them,” he offered.

“He’s a tech,” Kyre said. “So, how did you get away from the Shikshiks?”

“By accident,” Mimi said. She wasn’t sure what was wrong with her. It was like she couldn’t catch her breath. She was...stunned. English speakers. 

And he was good-looking, too.
