The last window showed
something Skyleen had to look at for a while until she could figure out what it was. It was a small man sleeping, but on the top of his head and down his neck to his shoulders were iridescent
green and blue feathers. Were those wings?
She'd never seen any full-blooded Zh’Cle but she knew some had wings and others had poisonous spiked tails, which this man seemed to have also, though her view was obscured by his bedding. She had never heard about feathers though. Zh’Cle had scales, didn't they?

Beware of small men sporting wings (especially while under the influence of sedatives)...that's my advice. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI like that she's about to slip unconscious next to strange alien man and her last thoughts are about the bed heater. Good stuff.
ReplyDeleteLol. I have been cold for a month--I think it is affecting my brainz. Have been at that writing=pulling teeth stage but am determined to finish this book!
ReplyDeleteI'm with S.A. I had a laugh at that when she's wondering about feathers, scales and poisonous tales--oh, my. This man sounds very interesting. Wonderful details.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting excerpt - I like the image of the small, feathered man... with a spiked tail. A nice juxtaposition.
ReplyDeleteI like the description of the man in your excerpt. Leaves me wanting to know more about him.
ReplyDeleteWhy feathers only to the shoulders? did the bedding cut off her view? Or was it the anesthetic?
ReplyDeleteInteresting description of the man... feathers and a tail!
ReplyDeleteAnd man, right now I would love a bed with a heat setting...
