My entry this week is from a Steampunk WIP, The Gentile Constructs. More Six Sentence Sunday Entries can be found HERE.
Finding a cab was easy, but Amity, in a sense of adventure
and a symbolic shaking of the dust from her feet, walked further into the city
until she was able to procure a small aircab. She found the ride incredibly
thrilling. In fact, everything was delightful!
Once a year she and
her two friends met at the Royal Academy of Construct Hospital for their
annual adjustments—it was written into their work contracts, since they were
King’s Constructs— and as unpleasant as the hospital was, a week spent in the
company of her two friends was the highlight of her pitiful life. And
to think, they would be living together on an Estate in the Country!
Love the name Amity. Intrigued by your six. :)

ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the picture?
ReplyDeletePippa- I've been playing with this world for a while, a steampunk fantasy Britian-like place.
ReplyDeleteJM--got the photo from Deposit photos.
Amity is such an awesome name! And the woman in the picture "looks" like an Amity. Great excerpt, Melisse! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued. Love the pic, too. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like things are about to change for her. Nice six! :)
ReplyDeleteLeaves me wondering exactly what a construct is.
ReplyDeleteStephanie--I bought the picture because she looked like the woman in my story, petite, but determined.
ReplyDeleteSue Ann--well, one thing about constructs--they are not accepted in Polite Society.
I like the name Amity, and I get a sense that perhaps she's not entirely (or even partially) human. An intriguing six.
