In years gone by I had a couple books published by Aspen Mountain Press in the Del Fanatsma multi-author series. They sold well and I sketched out several more stories, foreseeing a happy publishing future for these paranormal novellas. But Aspen Mountain Press closed its door. The setting and stock characters of the stories belonged to AMP, so I couldn't just self pub them or submit them else where.
Finally I decided to change the world building to a similar place. Encanto Bay was born! It's still on the southern coast of California. Others--paranormal folk--are drawn to the area and have been for centuries, as evidenced by ancient legends of Native people. The Encanto Bay Cafe has a long history. In the first two books I introduced the idea of a group of paranormals acting as security for the community. In Holly Jolly Vampire we see that a new agency--A Task Force of humans and paranormals has been formed. And there's a threat coming up from the jungles of South America.
Plenty of room for a few more books.

I'm glad you were able to find a way to reinvent the stories. It sucks that the rights didn't revert back to you when they closed their doors.
