Thanks for visiting my SFFSAT snippet this week. My couple, Gema and Kellac, are contestants in a survival competition on a wilderness planet.
This is not good. He
looked back at Gema who was walking slowly, her limp more pronounced. He’d left
her alone and vulnerable in an unknown wilderness. Shame flooded him. He was a
leader, he protected his men.
The beasts walked toward him, speeding up, and more in the
herd looked up and joined in.
They are going to stampede!
Kellac dropped the travois and ran. Maybe he could reach her,
shield her…
He reached Gema and crashed into the grass with her to the thunder of pounding feet right behind.

Uh oh! Stampedes are never good!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds a little more heavy-duty than our version of 'Survivor.'
ReplyDeleteExciting snip!
Not a stampede!! I'm liking how this is going...looking forward to more.
ReplyDeleteOh man, not good!! :-(
ReplyDeleteExciting! I love a good stampede!
ReplyDeleteYikes! Intense snippet!
ReplyDeleteOh, crap! Don't just lie there! Get up and run!
ReplyDeleteGrass? You need a little more protection than that from a stampede!
ReplyDeleteThat's going to be painful...
ReplyDeletePoor Gema!! already a pronounced limp, next she's being jumped and then comes a stampede!! bad luck always comes in threes, doesn't it?!
ReplyDeletewell done!
I'm with Patrick. Hitting the grass where there is a stampede isn't the best plan. They need to run or find something solid to hide against. :-)
ReplyDeleteAhh! Stampedes are terrifying! says the little-kid-me still traumatized by The Lion King.
ReplyDeleteI hope they find a tree to climb, or a rock to hide behind, or a gun.
Funny, it had me thinking more of the Gallimimus stampeded in Jurassic park - let's hope there isn't something worse behind the stampede!
