A sexy vampire and a small-town craft store owner find love during a Kansas twister,
which is a harbinger of a dimensional rift.
which is a harbinger of a dimensional rift.
“The main floor, as you can see, is the Woolly Wonderland, a knitting and craft store. I don't think you will find it too noisy. The store is closed Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.” Mrs. Parker, from the rental management company, brought a man up to the porch where Trinity and Sharon, who worked for Trinity in the Woolly Wonderland, were having a glass of iced tea on a fine spring evening. The young man was so handsome Trinity felt her cheeks heat up just looking at him. Tall, dark and lean— every feature was perfect.
“And this is Trinity Dale, who lives in the upstairs apartment and owns the Woolly Wonderland. Sharon works with her in the shop. This Rob Brown, who is interested in renting the basement apartment. He has a self-employed computer business.”
“I do have a crafting class on Thursday nights and occasional classes on Saturday mornings. But we don't get rowdy.” Trinity could already see the matchmaking wheels turning in Sharon’s brain as she stuck out a hand for a shake. So Trinity was forced to shake his hand also, which was cool and firm. Not sweaty.
He smiled, dimples, white teeth and sparkly eyes doing something to Trinity's brain. And did my heart just thump? He had incredible sky blue eyes with long dark lashes. Very striking with his chocolate below-the-ears brown hair, and cheekbones. And full lips. And... Not one feature had a flaw.
He’s prettier than I am.
“Not a problem about the store or classes,” he said in a husky voice that sent a shiver down her spine. “I’m a night owl and do the bulk of my computer work after midnight. Most of my clients prefer their updates to be done during the middle of the night. And I sleep like the dead.”
“All right. Great. Sounds like we would be a good fit.” As soon as the words were out of her mouth Trinity realized they could be taken in a completely sexual way. Her already warm face got warmer. Thank goodness it was twilight!
“Trinity is technically your landlord, Rob, but she hired us to oversee the rental. So you will pay your rent to the management company.”
“I would like to pay six months in advance if that’s all right.” He looked at Trinity, fine eyebrows raised.
“Uh, sure,” Trinity said. Sophisticated around men, that’s me!
“We’ll take care of that while I show you the apartment," Mrs. Parker said. "Since Trinity lives on the second floor, she might need to take shelter during a storm, since Cherryvale is in right in the middle of Tornado Alley. We always make sure she can get into the basement during a tornado warning.”
Rob the hottie nodded and grinned. “Not a problem.”
“Um. I would bring my cat in a carrier.” Trinity pushed her glasses up her nose. “And I have an emergency bag with food and a flashlight and stuff. ”
“That would be fine. Knock loud.”
