evening, Debbie Sue fixed more meat, with Mexican rice and beans for
her and Bobby. Akarak ate some plain beans with his beef. Then she
took Bobby upstairs for a quick wash down, story and bedtime kiss. He
was a such an easy baby to get to sleep. She stayed in his room for a
few moments, bolstering her courage.

had been...kind, night after night. Akarak even gave the dogs treats
from his plate. He was not a monster.

decided on the bedroom at the end of the hall, where any noise they
