The next morning the alien came into the house as she was kneading bread. Akarak placed a package on the table.
“Yes, I'm making bread.”
“Debbie Sue eat flesh?”
“Meat, yes, I eat some meat.” That package didn't hold some kind of outer space bug or something, did it?
“Bovine,” he said as he left, the tentacles on the end of his thick tail reaching out and holding the screen door open, preventing it from banging on his tail.
Debbie Sue, babysitting her sister's infant for the weekend, hides in the root cellar and somehow survives an alien invasion, only to be captured weeks later when she goes grocery shopping.
