Diaspora Worlds is a space opera romance series and ships travel through the space to different star systems using jump streams--worm holes that connect two points. There are locations where jump streams cluster, and Hubs have sprung up, commercial stations like huge airports.
Later in the series my New Prague/Terran Alliance folk meet a people that can create its own jumpstreams.
