Gearing up for NaNoWriMo!

I am taking a break from the editing I've been doing on two scifi romances. Those stories are almost ready to submit but I feel like it is time to do something new. NaNoWriMo starts November first and inspiration struck.

Fantasy has always been my first genre-love. As a child I owned the Narnia books and reread them constantly. My first sale(which is a free read through Smashwords) was a short sexy fantasy--Faunication.

Out of the blue--like all great story ideas!--came the idea for a high fantasy romance, set in a medieval Britain-like magical country. My heroine, Ysmay, is the King's niece. Her elderly husband died, and her uncle contracts a new marriage to the Lord of Shard--a remote shire in the far north, in the Shard Mountains. Since she was pregnant at the time of her husband's death, the marriage is done by proxy immediately after the birth of her daughter, and a contingent of soldiers arrive from Shard to escort her to her new home. Unknown to her, the captain of the escort, Sir Hurion, is really her husband, the Lord Resse of Shard. And that is not his largest secret--the men of Shard are dragon shifters!

I'm looking forward to November!

  1. I love fantasy. Granted, I preferred romance to be a minor part of the story, your idea sounds cool. Dragon shifters? Sweet!

Those pictures are awesome too. Wish I could find some story inspiring pictures for my epic fantasy one for nanowrimo. Might be my goal this weekend since my prep is done.

    Good luck with NaNo!
