It's, Like, A Pre-Christmas Miracle!

I confess, I cheated on you. I went to blogspot, I went to live journal. But I have come back to Wordpress. What can I say? Perhaps it was unmet needs, perhaps the other grass just looked greener. Maybe it was a mid-life crisis. I did change my name to the uber cool new one, Melisse Aires. I'll keep the blogspot because it embeds so easily into my website. That reminds me, I was going to redo my website. but not now! I'm busy. I have PLANS!

I signed up for nanowrimo, and it has been helpful in that I got more than half of a rough written in the third story of my Sons of the Protectorate futuristic series. I now know where the story goes and have a working outline.

But somewhere along the nano, I felt the urge to edit a requested full I had put away this fall, with all my health issues, hubby's ankle surgery, the elections, health insurance woes, evil monkeys who want my money, and general chaos. But I got the urge to whip it into shape, and it is coming along!

Talk about wild universal syncronicity. Magick. Karma. I had no more started slogging through the edits when the editor who requested it months ago emailed me, wondering if I was still interested in submitting it! It's like, A pre-Christmas Miracle!

As far as reading, for me it is All Christmas All The Time. I picked books by their Christmassy covers:

Christmas Wizardy:

Daniel, High Wizard of the Earth, saves Merri from demons. Inside the Daniels' Dark Tower they are safe from the demons, but will two lonely people find something more than a little Christmas cheer?

Wishing Rights:

Mallow, a dwarven widow, rescues Pascal, an elf from the North Pole, when he is injured in a rockslide. They come to know and love each other, but elves do not marry dwarves. Someday he will have to return to his own land. Pascal, though, is an elf, with a connection to Christmas, and an understanding of his WishLinking Rights…

Excerpts are on my website:

Nanowrimo:

My story, (working title Swamp Colony) is the third in my Sons of the Protectorate series. The stories are futuristic romances about 5 brothers, alb created Pure gen humans(gorgeous, natch). Their mother is the Protectorate (like a president) of a planet called New Prague, which is on the edge of a system that has been invaded by Emperor Sirn.

Story one,
Surviving Summer was a short pubbed by a blip-on-the-radar publisher. Now it is novella length. Kellac (a military prisoner) and Gema were pulled out of prison to be on a popular survival show.

The second story,
Droid Awakened, is about the brother Kaistril, who was transformed into a Droid ladies maid for Sabralia, a contract wife of Emporer Sirn. I have not subbed this story yet.

Story number three,
Swamp Colony, takes place on the southern continent of New Prague in a large swamp called the Meander. Karvyr, a scientist, has been sent as a secret emissary by his mother, in an attempt to win the assistance of an outcast group of half humans, who can mentally affect the Droids of Sirn. He meets Trill, a hunter.

I want to have all five stories finished in at least rough draft before I submit, because the story lines intertwine. Each story gives the Protectorate valuable information about defeating Sirn.

Some pictures I'm using for this story:

The Meander.

Trill( her hair is blond and flame shaped like a crest.) In my mind her voice and accent are Leslie Caron.

Karvyr ( he often wears focals due to a lab accident--hasn't taken the time to get his amber eyes regenned.):
